The Region

Gazaupouy is in the heart of unspoilt rural Gascony with its wonderful undulating landscape of small farms and vineyards, famous for their Armagnac and floc de gascoigne, the local aperitif. The plum orchards produce the Agen prunes. Distant views of the majestic Pyrennees from the top of the hill reminds you that the ski slopes are under two hours away!

The Gascons are warm-hearted people and the owners enjoy good neighbours who are always ready to help their guests. The regional food and wine is excellent with foie gras and confit de canard being the specialities.

The cathedral city of Condom is about 8 km away and has all the shops you need, with an excellent Intermache, banks, doctors, dentists and hospital.

The tourism office in Condom is full of all the local seasonal festivities and is worth an early visit. The spring and summer are full of fairs and fetes. Jazz at Marciac in August, the bull fighting at Vic Fezensac in May and the Country and Western Festival in July at Mirande.

There is Motor Racing at Nogaro and the local sport of Course Landais (cow jumping with your legs tied together) goes from village to village throughout the summer and the cow gets to go home!

Beautiful bastide villages, Montreal, Larresingle and Fources are well worth exploring.

The cathedral at Auch with its world famous stained glass windows and its carved choir stalls, together with Abbeye de Flaran and the Roman Villa of Seviac are not to be missed.

Look out for the night markets at Vic Fezensac, with their stalls and cafes.

The Atlantic beaches of Biaritzz and Hossegor are renowned for their surfing are about two hours away.
Golf, horse riding, boating and canoeing or the local inland lakes and beaches with their water slides. The Parc Walabi at Agen provides the white knuckle experience.
